I was shopping across the road from this scene. (Glenorchy, Hobart)I turned to see the effect the sunlight was having on this service station. It lit up. I returned to paint a study the next day and then make this large work.
The scenario with the robbers just came to me.
Not long after the painting was exhibited, an actual robbery occurred at this station. It was in the paper with a photo of this scene.
