I painted this when I was studying at The School of Visual Arts. It was the view from the corner of my block, West 24th Street and 6th Avenue. I painted a few large works, celebrating Manhattan, in the first years I lived in NYC. It felt almost unreal to be living there and I needed to paint these scenes to convince myself I was actually living there.
